Battery management specialist Dukosi has announced it has expanded into Asia, with its first offices in South Korea. The firm, which produces integrated circuits that monitor battery cells in electric vehicles and industrial energy storage applications, is headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland. The expansion enables Dukosi employees to be closer to the rapidly growing South Korean electric vehicle industry.

Speaking of the move, Dukosi Chief Executive Nat Edington, said: “Korea is an incredibly important market for Dukosi as the country is seen as a leader in electrification and battery technology. Korean companies have shown vision and bravery in addressing the electric vehicle battery market with scale in mind. We see this ambition in both Korean automotive companies and the world-famous tech giants that have come out of Korea. It’s essential for Dukosi’s innovative technology to be available to this market locally.”

Dukosi is a fabless semiconductor company. It enables lighter, less complex high voltage batteries, with more granular data reported and processed. It does this by providing a wireless sensor hub for each cell, eliminating all the wires, pins, connectors, and printed circuit boards of modular battery systems. A single antenna cable, paired with NFC technology, communicates from hundreds of cells to one central BMS per battery, without requiring line-of-sight, enabling a flexible, true cell to pack architecture.
